The road network improvement project, developed by the Emanuel Pinheiro administration for the benefit of the Altos da Serra II neighborhood - Northern Region of the Capital, reached this week the milestone of 50% of the work completed, totaling more than five (5) streets served.
Coordinated by the Municipal Secretariat of Public Works (SMOP), the technical teams remain engaged on Rua Mato Grosso and will subsequently move on to the other locations, benefiting more than two thousand families from Cuiabá living in the region.
The vice-mayor and head of SMOP, José Roberto Stopa, stressed that more than six kilometers of roads will be covered by the initiative, along with curbs, sidewalks, gutters, and road signage - the quality standard adopted by the City of Cuiabá since 2017.
"After a great struggle, we managed to turn the dream into reality. A project that will change the lives of thousands of people, bring countless benefits - this is our greatest wish, the legacy we will leave for our people. We are committed, and so it will remain until everything is 100% finished, honoring the commitment made," he stated.
The community leader of Altos da Serra II, Deva Fonseca, said that the local population had lost faith in the Public Authorities; however, the current popular sentiment is one of joy. "Many doubted. We spoke and they didn't believe us. Thanks, first to God, and then to Mayor Emanuel Pinheiro and Stopa, the ordeal has come to an end," he said.
The deputy leader, Wanderley Simões, took the opportunity to highlight the economic development achieved since the start of the works, attracting investors and new businesses to the area, boosting job and income generation. "Many business owners who saw no chance of prosperity here have changed their minds and are already planning new ventures such as gyms, markets, shops, and many others," he added.
The inauguration is scheduled to take place in 2023. However, the official date will still be announced by the Municipal Executive.
